Top 5 Alternative to Instagram

It’s time to get real about jumping out of the Instagram boat now that several placing new guidelines have been added to their Privateness Coverage and Terms of Use. Does Instagram own my images? and carry on accordingly. If you want to preserve sharing enjoyable-trying photographs with filters galore and also you wish to get away from Instagram, by all means, have a peek on the quick list we’ve acquired here.

Before we get too deep into this guide, I’ve bought to apologize for the marginally uneven skewing towards the iPhone audience. At the moment it still seems to be a real iPhone world in terms of creating apps with humorous filters in your camera - who knew!?

Flickr for iPhone

Flickr has a beautiful app whose replace not too long ago turned it into a lovely do-it-all machine that not solely works with your in depth Flickr library of photos, however provides filters on the go as well. Flickr is one of the most properly-known photograph storing and sharing interfaces on the planet, and the app is totally free as well. With all of the cameras in the world working with Flickr, the iPhone stays the top of the stack - due in no small half to the truth that this app continues a strong connection to iOS. Have a peek at Flickr for iPhone and grab it right this minute!

Twitter

Nicely would you have a look at that? Twitter made the trouble to convey on their own picture filters proper after Instagram broke ties with them just this past week. Needed to be a coincidence! Now you won’t actually have to depart Twitter as a way to take a elaborate filtered photograph that you just’re going to tweet anyway. This various makes good sense in the event you’ve at all times been utilizing both providers within the past. Twitter 5.2 marked the change-over for iOS, but you can too work with these filters in Android now as well.

Facebook

It’s a double-coincidence, and what have you learnt? Facebook also has its own picture filters too - when Fb added these filters, they have been already within the course of of purchasing Instagram. Seems they didn’t wish to merge the two programs together, they wished to ensure they'd Instagram on their team. It might not be the most effective thought to “swap” to Fb in the event you’re frightened about Instagram proudly owning your photographs, nonetheless, because the Privateness Coverage and Terms of Service we’re talking about above are coming straight from Facebook.

In other phrases, you’d be jumping right out of the frying pan and into the hearth - product of little teeny-tiny frying pans themselves! Have a peek on the official Facebook app anyway - you’ll by no means escape.

Olympus Picture Share

Again in October of 2012, the parents at Olympus got here out with an app that was destined to be forgotten in the wake that was Instagram. Now could be the time to go again to this Olympus Image Share App and take a look at your luck. It’s bought fancy filters galore and is made to work immediately with a group of Olympus cameras with FlashAir - it’s sizzling stuff! Notice: there’s an iOS model now and an Android model will be out imminently if not soon!

Snapseed

Google owns the app referred to as Snapseed for both iOS and Android, and there’s at the moment no more excellent picture-enhancing app available on the market for this price. While you’re backed by Google and you provide up your app at no cost, that kind of thing happens. Because it occurs, this isn’t a direct competitor or equal to Instagram as a result of it’s made not for immediate-frying like the hipster-pleasant shooter, instead it’s made to be an especially efficient photo editing app for images that are supposed to be displayed massive - it’s large-time!

Best Nokia Lumia 920 apps

Nokia Lumia 920

If you're lucky enough to have a Nokia Lumia 920, we've got you covered with our checklist of some must-have Lumia 920 apps.

Google - Free
The default search on Windows Phone 8 is Microsoft's Bing, which is absolutely fine and certainly works well enough on the whole. However, there is a familiarity with Google's way of searching which for many is irreplaceable. The official Google app for Windows Phone isn't quite as comprehensive as it is on Android but you do get the option of location based search results, voice searches and fully-functional auto-complete predictions. It's free, quick and easy to use.

Toggle - Free
Toggle allows you to switch key phone functions on and off with a tap, the functionality echoes similar built-in capabilities from Android phones and it's a welcome addition to the Windows Phone platform. Essentially, with this app you can create a Live Tile for things like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, mobile data, airplane mode and location data.

Connectivity Shortcuts - Free
Connectivity Shortcuts is similar to Toggle but with more of a focus on connectivity functionality and with a slightly different look and feel which may appeal to some users more than Toggle. It's a bit more customisable as it allows you to edit the text shown on the Live Tile and you can choose the colour from Windows Phone's standard options.

Lock Themes - 79p
Lock Themes makes use of the new addition to Windows Phone 8 which allows apps to send information and content to the lock screen. The app lets you select a theme and will subsequently send pictures or quotes as your lock screen wallpaper. According to the developers new themes are being added all the time, but at present a few gems include a Christmas-themed ‘Deck the Halls' and one which is chock-full of Halo 4 Concept Art. Other options include Daily Horoscopes and a Nature theme.

Sticky Tiles - Free
Microsoft's included OneNote application is very comprehensive, but sometimes it's a bit of a bind to jump in and out of and you might not always want everything you write stored to the cloud. For functionality more in-line with a ‘Post it' or Stick Note, Stick Tiles lets you quickly throw together a note and stick it to the Start screen as a Live Tile, making it handy for reminders at a glance. You can customise the note's colour and each one can optionally have a ‘front' and ‘back' with separate info on each side.

Weather View - Free
There are plenty of weather apps out there but Weather View is both comprehensive and nice to look at. You can add up to five locations to see weather reports from each and the app features full 10-day forecasts with each day broken up into three time brackets. You can choose temperature and wind speed to be measured in Celsius or Fahrenheit and imperial or metric respectively. Other pages you can swipe to show in-depth forecasts and there's a Group View to show all your listed cities. The background image can be customised and you can have customisable Live Tiles pinned to your Start screen showing city forecasts.

Ztitch - Free
Ztitch is a photo editing suite designed to let you take multiple snaps and then piece them together into a 3D-like panoramic 360-degree environment. It's somewhat reminiscent of Android Jelly Bean's new PhotoSphere and you can fully pan and zoom the created images. Integrated sharing features for Facebook, Twitter and email mean you can send your new compositions to your friends. With the Lumia 920's amazing PureView camera the results are particularly impressive. Best of all it's completely free.

Earthworm Jim HD - £3.99
The Windows Phone Store is a bit sparsely populated when it comes to games, but there are one or two brilliant retro platformer titles which have been revived for the platform. The first of these is Earthworm Jim HD.

Earthworm Jim is one of those crazy characters who could've only emerged from the mid-90s and today in his latest iteration he's as mental as ever. In the game you play as Jim, an earthworm from humble origins who's been endowed with super abilities after crawling into a space suit. Jim's taken it upon himself to save a princess from various evil intergalactic overlords and their minions. Cue 16 levels of space-spanning gameplay with four different modes: side-scrolling platforming, space racing, underwater sections and bungee jumping. There are nine bosses to defeat and 12 differnt types of enemy to fight on your way to them. All of this comes at you in an eye-popping and colourful comic book art style

Sonic CD - £3.99
Sonic CD is another blast from gaming's past. In this time-travelling classic the iconic blue hedgehog once again takes on his arch-nemesis Dr Eggman and his latest invention, the evil doppelganger Metal Sonic.

Sonic 4 Episode 1 - £3.99
While Sonic CD is an adaptation of a classic title, Sonic Episode 4 is a true sequel to the last instalment in the series: Sonic and Knuckles and picks up where the previous game left off. Dr Eggman is gunning for Sonic again with newly adapted machine minions. Fortunately Sonic has a number of both new and classic abilities including Spin Dash and a homing attack.

Five Best iPhone 5 Accessories you must have

iPhone 5

If you're the proud owner of a new Apple iPhone 5 or are anticipating some very lovely friend or relative buying you one for Christmas, you'll probably be eager to find out what accessories there are with which to compliment your shiny new piece of tech. However, this can be a daunting task as the market's totally flooded with add-ons, and it's tough to sort the wheat from the chaff if you don't know what you're looking for.

Fortunately for you, we've put together a guide to show you the top five accessories that you should be investing in to get the very most out of your iPhone 5, covering everything from entertainment to fitness, all of which would make great gifts for an iPhone 5 owner, to fit a range of budgets.

First up is the Sonos Play:5, a sage choice for the audiophiles among us. This little beauty lets you stream your entire music collection wirelessly and delivers amazing, room-filling audio. Oh, and did we mention that it also lets you log-in to your favourite online musical sources too, like Spotify? It's also possible to daisy chain several of them together and have one in each room of the house, turning your humble abode into an entertainment-ready party palace.

Sure, it's a little bit on the pricey side, but what price-tag can you put on pure, unadulterated aural pleasure?

If you like your music a little bit more personal, then Sennheiser's PMX 685i's are a very good place to start. They're aimed at people with a more active life and are perfectly suited for runners, as the innovative design ensures they stay firmly lodged in your lug-holes, leaving you to concentrate on your run, rather than pushing troublesome earbuds back into your head every 2 minutes.

They're sweat and water resistant, and have an integrated smart remote, allowing you to skip songs or adjust the volume without having to fiddle with your iPhone 5 on the move, which cuts down on potential risk to your lovely new device, but perhaps best of all, because of the shape of the in-ear section, you'll get full, rich-sounding playback but also still be able to hear your surroundings, because there's nothing worse than that feeling of sensory deprivation when you're jogging alone.

Now, we'll admit, we can't decide if this one is absolute genius or insanely superfluous, but we can't deny that we love it either way. The iZZi Orbit basically uses a series of lenses to turn your iPhone 5 into a real camera. It's made of aircraft grade aluminium, so it's seriously good quality, and it allows you to take fish-eye, wide-angle and telephoto pictures with your phone.

It's not cheap, coming in at roughly £150, so you'll want to be fairly serious about iPhoneography before you take the plunge, but it's well worth the outlay if you take your photography seriously (or you're idle rich!)

One of the most important things you'll need for your iPhone 5 is a decent case because even if you've never dropped or damaged a phone in your life, now you own one that's made of glass, the chances are, you might. The Impactband is a low-profile, minimalist case which offers unprecedented levels of protection for its size. The science behind is pretty simple, it uses ‘recoil points' which basically act like a car bumper and crumple to absorb impact and reduce the chance of your iPhone smashing into a trillion shiny, expensive pieces.

And to be fair, it looks pretty good too.

Okay, so Apple TV isn't exactly a new and exciting revelation, it's been around for a while, but if you love Apple products and you don't already have this gadget, maybe it's because you don't yet appreciate how truly marvellous it can be!

This little box plugs into your TV and, in up to 1080P definition, will allow you to watch Netflix, YouTube and a number of other services on the big screen. On top of this, you can also wirelessly stream content from any of your Apple devices to the Apple TV box and watch it on your big screen, which means everything on your iPhone 5 or iPad is ready to view whenever you want it. No longer will you have to strain your eyes while watching a cat playing the piano on YouTube, or smashing pigs on Angry Birds, and what's not to love about that?!
